1. Introduction

Your privacy is important to us. This privacy statement explains the personal data Kenchic collects, how Kenchic processes it, and for what purposes. This statement should be read together with the Terms and Conditions of Use for other Kenchic products and services. Where there is a conflict, this statement will prevail. This statement applies to all customers, suppliers, agents, merchants, dealers and all visitors frequenting any of Kenchic premises.

We do not onboard minors (any person under 18 years of age) except where you additionally register on their behalf as their parent and/ or legal guardian. 3. What information is collected?

The information we collect and store about you includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Your identity, including your name, photograph, address, location, phone number, email address, and mobile number
  • The GPS location of your farm or enterprise
  • Your credit or debit-card information, information about your bank account numbers and SWIFT codes or other banking information.
  • Your transaction information when you use mobile money to purchase a service
  • Your contact with us, such as when you: call us or interact with us through social media, postal mail, email (we may record your conversations, social media or other interactions with us).
  • Your call data records: phone numbers that you call or send messages to (or receive calls and messages from), log of calls, messages or data sessions on the Kenchic network and your approximate location (save for customer service interactions as noted above we do not record or store message or call contents).
  • We maintain a register of visitors in which we collect and keep your personal data such as names, company/institution details, telephone number, vehicle registration details and National ID number. This information is collected for health, safety and security purposes.

4. Use of Information

We may use and analyze your information for the following purposes:

  • Processing products and services that you have bought from Kenchic or from third parties on our e-commerce platforms;
  • Billing you for using our or third-party products or services or taking the appropriate amount of credit from you;
  • Responding to any of your queries or concerns;
  • Verifying your identity information through publicly available and/or restricted government databases in order to comply with applicable regulatory requirements;
  • Keeping you informed generally about agronomy information through newsletters, unless you opt out of receiving such messages (you may contact Kenchic at any time to opt out of receiving marketing messages or newsletters);

  • In business practices including to quality control, training and ensuring effective systems operations;
  • To protect our network including to manage the volume of calls, texts and other use of our network;

  • Administer any of our online platforms, mobile apps, or websites.

5. Lawful Basis for processing your information

We will process your personal information based on any of the lawful basis provided for under the Data Protection Law:

  • The performance of a Product/Service Agreement with you;
  • Kenchic’ legitimate business interests;
  • Compliance with a mandatory legal obligation;
  • Consent you provide;
  • Public interest;
  • Your vital interest.

6. Retention of Information

We will only retain your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or reporting requirements. We may retain your personal data for a longer period in the event of a complaint or if we reasonably believe there is a prospect of litigation in respect to our relationship with you.

Anonymized information that can no longer be associated with you may be held indefinitely.

In 2011 Kenchic was the first company in Kenya to attain Food Safety System Certification 22000 (FSSC 22000). Recently re-certified, Kenchic’s food safety compliance is now valid until 1st November 2020. FSSC 22000 is the most comprehensive food safety management system standard because it fully consist of the following ISO 22000:2005,ISO/TS 22002-1:2009 and additional FSSC 22000 requirements (version 4.1) and is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative. 

We see it as an essential component in our service delivery to all our customers and in particular to major branded food companies and retailers.Kenchic products are all Halal certified by the Muslim Council of Kenya. The Arabic word halal means ‘permissible’, and the rules of slaughter are based on Islamic law. In addition, Kenchic is current and compliant with the recommendations and requirements of all local statutory and regulatory bodies including NEMA, KEBS, OHS and Good Veterinary Practices.

The scope of the Certification

Kenchic produces poultry products which are offered for sale to the local markets. All operations are currently carried out in the Ngoliba Processing Plant. The scope of certification covers the entire Kenchic operation. The factory has planned, implemented, operates, maintains and updates a Food Safety Management System aimed at providing food products that, according to the intended use, are safe for the consumer.

Kenchic will from time to time evaluate and assess customer requirements and demonstrate conformity with those we agree to relate to food safety. The factory effectively communicates food safety issues to suppliers, customers and relevant interested parties in the food chain.

Food Safety And Quality Policy

At Kenchic we are committed to:

Food Safety Management System Process
The process of implementing and retaining certification is spearheaded by the Kenchic Food Safety Team under the leadership of our Quality Assurance Manager. As a Group, They are highly qualified and technically trained to sustain and develop our systems. In addition, a strong Quality Assurance Department is in place to ensure compliance.
Kenchic’s Senior Management team ensures that such commitment forms part of Kenchic’scorporate strategy and lends strong support to all areas of quality improvement.

Kenchic profile

Kenchic Limited is the leading producer of poultry in East and Central Africa. At its inception, the company’s main activity was the production of broiler and layer day old chicks.
